Kabokweni Meet and Knit is an initiative that was started by community members of Kabokweni early this year to celebrate Mandela Day and they are hoping to knit 67 scarfs and beanies instead of 67 blankets to give to the underprivileged.
According to Musawenkosi Ndlovu who is one of the founders of this initiative, the aim of this initiative is to celebrate the good deeds that was done by the former President of this country Nelson Mandela by showing love and care to others by doing good to celebrate the stalwart.
Ndlovu says they meet every Sunday with the team members to continue with their knitting and acknowledging each other to keep up the good work. He says they requested few women with the skill of knitting and crocheting to teach the others, they show much love and appreciation and for now they have finished more than 100 yarn. He says they will continue doing this until Mandela Day which is on the 18th of July where they will then distribute their work to the underprivileged members of their community.
