The three were burned by members of the community after they shot and killed a woman and her son in extension 10 during a home invasion on Sunday night. One of the family members survived the incident. The actions of the suspects caused outrage in the community and the suspects were hunted down and burned.
Meanwhile acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi strongly condemns the brutal killing and tourching of the three individuals in alleged mob justice incident that occurred in Barberton Monday, 25 August 2025. Major General (Dr) Mkhwanazi has called for calm within the community of Barberton and strongly warned residents not to take the law into their own hands.
