The City of Mbombela partnering with local stakeholders organized a successful awareness event themed “16 Days of Activism against No Violence Against Women and Children” in Southern Region Barberton.
This initiative is in line with South Africa’s national campaign running from November 25 to December 10 each year to combat gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).
The Stakeholders involved included the provincial Department of Social Development (DSD), Barberton SAPS, Imvunge Ye Africa, Ashdown Community Development which represents (LGBTIQA) groups, the Traditional Healers Practitioners, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the Community of Umjindi attended in large numbers.
This local event supports the 2025 national theme, “Letsema: Men, Women, Boys and Girls working together to end GBVF,” emphasizing multi-sectoral collaboration, positive masculinity, and reporting mechanisms like the GBVF.
