The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an orange level 9 warning for disruptive rain in Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Monday.
This is up from Sunday’s level 6 warning.
Both provinces have been battered by heavy rains for several days due to tropical moisture.
Widespread flooding and damage to infrastructure are again expected on Monday.
Spokesperson for the South African National Parks (SANParks) JP Louw said the inclement weather led to the evacuation of some camp sites to less affected parts of the Kruger National Park.
Meanwhile Kruger National Park spokesperson Raynold Thakhuli edged community members to wait for the rain until it stops raining so that they will be able to visit the park again.
